A performance by Pectus, silent disco, special exhibition, outdoor cinema, football fan zones, kids’ games and activities, food trucks; and these are just some of the highlights that were prepared by Dr. Miele Cosmed Group S.A. for the residents of Lower Silesia on Saturday and Sunday (15-16 June 2024). And it’s all to celebrate the jubilee of 200 years of soap-making traditions in Jawor.
1824 is the year the Rummler family founded the Caustic Soda and Soap Factory in Jawor. Thus began the history of a plant that, in the year of 2000, became the property of Global Cosmed S.A. Fabryki Kosmetyczne i Chemiczne, currently operating as Dr. Miele Cosmed Group S.A. To mark this occasion, the company invited the employees and local people to a joint celebration. Along with the City Hall of Jawor, Cultural Centre in Jawor and the Regional Museum in Jawor, the company prepared a number of attractions [watch the invitation HERE].
‘Now controlled by Dr. Andreas Miele, the company is Poland’s leading producer of cosmetics and household chemistry, a manufacturer of recognised brands: Kret drain cleaner, kids’ brand Bobini, Sofin laundry detergents and softeners, as well as a brand of personal wash products, Apart. It is also the largest company in this industry listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Every story has its origin. That’s why we want to share with the city dwellers the pride we take in the plant’s current appearance and its products. It’s also a walk down the memory lane for our employees that we invited to join us in creating this event. The employees will take the stage and tell us about their work in the factory back in the day when it produced Pollena-branded heavy-duty hand cleaning paste or Kret drain cleaner – products famous in the entire Poland. It’s going to be a unique event in the company’s history, so it’s worth joining us’ Ms Magdalena Miele, President of the Management Board of Dr. Miele Cosmed Group S.A., stated invitingly.
So what’s going to happen during the celebration?
The heart of the celebrations will be beating at the Main Square in Jawor, where numerous attractions will be held for the citizens of the city from 4:00 PM on Saturday. From competitions with prizes held on the stage, free silent disco, sharing a celebration cake, up to the concerts of MSV and the headlining star – Pectus band! At 5:00 PM, at the Regional Museum, a private view of the ‘Cleanliness over the ages’ exhibition will be held. It’s a journey through time telling the story of keeping places clean and tidy from the Roman Empire onwards. Products of Jawor’s Pollena will bring a touch of nostalgia to the older attendees, while the young will be surprised by wild washing machines or mediaeval chamber pots. Silent disco will also begin at 5:00 PM . It’s a unique disco where everyone can dance to a different rhythm.
Sunday, on the other hand, is family time. Free kids’ zone available between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM will attract the little ones with bouncy playground, soap bubbles and cotton candy. Kids will have an opportunity to turn into treasure hunters thanks to an outdoor game prepared by Dr. Miele Cosmed Group S.A. and the Regional Museum. Football fans will certainly be interested in watching the Poland – Netherlands (at 3:00 PM) game on the big screen. To end the day, the organisers would like to invite you to a great crime-comedy ‘Mamma Mafia’ starring seductive Monica Bellucci and hilarious Toni Collette (9:30 PM).
All through the day, you can eat well thanks to plenty of food trucks parked along the Market.
